New Eurostar service praised by media

This week's launch of a new high-speed rail link between the UK and France has been praised by a British newspaper.

The Independent stated that the reduced journey times offered by the service, about 20 minutes compared with the previous route, was "the stuff of dreams" for commuters.

Eurostar's new rail link will offer passage between the newly-renovated St Pancras station and Paris in only two and a half hours, while allowing access to other cities in mainland Europe.

Launching to the public on Wednesday, the service will also open up foreign markets for people living in the rest of the UK.

The Independent commented: "The benefits will not be felt just by those based in the south-east.

"Continental Europe is now within easier reach of travellers from the north, east and Midlands wishing to take the train."

This could potentially encourage interest in mainland European markets among both holidaymakers and overseas property investors from the UK.

London's St Pancras station was recently the subject of a multi-million redevelopment and was officially opened by the Queen last week.
