New Bucharest flight launched
A new link between London and the Romanian capital Bucharest has been launched by a budget airline.
Blue Air is now offering direct and low-cost services to the eastern European country from Stansted Airport, potentially boosting investment prospects in the country.
The first flight from Romania touched down on Friday and is part of a raft of new services being introduced by the carrier to various countries.
Nick Barton, business development and planning director at the airport, commented: "We wish Blue Air every success with this affordable low-cost connection."
He added that the high number of advance bookings showed that the destination was "very popular" with both business and leisure travellers.
This comes several days after another budget airline, Wizz Air, launched a service between Bucharest and Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
The carrier predicted that Romania would become the new "must-see" place of Europe, due to its good beaches, cities and picturesque countryside.
