Most top banks 'present in Romania'
Just 1 out of the 7 biggest names in the domestic banking market does not have a large standing in the Romanian sector, according to UniCredit.
The top players in the market include Societe Generale, Raiffeisen, IntesaSanPaolo and KBC, reports zf.ro.
Of these, only KBC does not have a bank on the domestic Romanian market, the survey found.
However, this firm has taken over the leasing firm Romstal Leasing, something it hopes will lead to easier integration in the local markets, according to the reports.
Another organisation based in Belgium, Fortis, has also announced that it has acquired the locally-based group Global Finance, the publication stated.
Moreover, the firm found that foreign service providers hold 89% of banking assets in Romania. More than 60% of assets are from the top 5 largest names, it added.
In related news, recent comments from Property Secrets suggested that economic reforms in the country have led to greater opportunities for potential property investors.
