Morocco's economy to see further growth
Morocco's economy is likely to experience further growth this year, a government minister has predicted.
According to finance minister Salaheddine Mezouar, gross domestic product should increase by about 6.2% in 2008.
Although this is slightly down on previous forecasts, he is upbeat about what this means for the north African nation.
Speaking to Reuters, he commented: "It still remains quite an achievement considering the circumstances."
Mr Mezouar said the economic slowdown in the European Union has not had a negative impact on the country, in particular its export sector.
Indeed, he stated that the number of exports to Europe went up by 13% between January and May this year.
The government's economic forecasts could be of interest to overseas property investors who are thinking of purchasing a property in Morocco.
According to NuWire Investor, foreign buyers are already snapping up houses in the country in order to take advantage of its ongoing property boom.
