Morocco praised by holiday home buyer

A holiday home buyer in Morocco has praised the country for its culture and natural environment.

Peter Cowie and his wife Rebecca purchased a holiday home in the north African nation earlier this year.

The property, which was bought both for personal use and as an investment, is based in Marrakesh and cost about £200,000.

Speaking to the Times, he said that most of his friends initially thought they were very brave for investing in Morocco, whereas now they wanted to visit it themselves.

He commented: "You are part of a different culture with different sounds, smells and colours. There is a real buzz."

Mr Cowie added that they were renovating the property to include features such as extra bedrooms and roof terraces, allowing them to sit outside and look at the surroundings, such as the Atlas Mountains.

According to Travel and Tourism News, approximately 6.5 million people took a holiday Morocco during 2006.
