Morocco markets to Britons

Consumers in the UK are to be targeted by a new advertising campaign from the Morroccan National Tourist Office (MNTO).

The organisation is increasing investment in marketing the north African country overseas in order to attract more foreign visitors, reports TravelMole.

Expenditure of the promotional drive will increase by 20% on this year to £1.8 million, which will be spent on print, poster and television advertising.

Commenting on the move, Rachid Maaninou of MNTO stated that the campaign would highlight the diversity of Morocco as a holiday destination.

He added that the advertisements would focus on established tourist spots such as Marrakesh, Fez and Agadir.

According to figures from MNTO, the number of visitors to Morocco from the UK increased by almost a third this year compared with 2006.

This means that Britons are the fastest-growing tourist market in the country.

Morocco was recently highlighted as a good destination for winter sun-seekers by Fiona Reece of I-Escape, who told the Guardian that it allowed visitors to soak up some culture and enjoy a beach holiday.
