Morocco could see increase in tourism from adventure travel sector

Morocco could receive a tourism boost from adventure travellers this summer, according to Adventure Travel Online Magazine.

Figures from the holiday company TUI show that adventure travel is a huge market for UK companies, providing over 400,000 passengers per year. The sector is expected to recover faster than other tourism sectors thanks to a strong client base.

Adventure Travel is advising that those looking to mix their adventure holiday with culture head to Morocco this summer.

Alun Davies, editor at Adventure Travel Online Magazine, said: "I think Morocco might be good for this summer because people are going to be guaranteed the weather, it's only two and a half hours flight away and there's some fantastic outdoor activity/adventure type holidays within a totally different culture."

Mr Davies added that the "scope for expansion in the sector is huge" and a number of people book their accommodation and travel independently rather than through a tour operator.

Morocco has been working on its appeal as a tourism destination in recent years with the aim of attracting ten million tourists a year by the end of 2010.
