Morocco 'becoming more accessible'

The increase in low-cost, direct flights to Morocco is making different parts of the country more accessible to UK visitors.

According to the Independent, the growing interest in Fez among British holidaymakers is one example of how improved travel connections can open up new areas for exploration.

Fez has traditionally lagged behind Marrakesh, Casablanca and Rabat in terms of attracting visitors, but the city's profile is set to be boosted by airline Atlas Blue next year.

The carrier will launch a twice-weekly service from London Gatwick to Fez in January, making trips to the historic city a convenient option for holidaymakers and property investors.

Described as "the ancient and spiritual capital of Morocco" by the newspaper, Fez is known for its bustling old town, spectacular architecture and authentic Moroccan cuisine.

It also contains a ninth-century medina said to be "the finest showcase of architecture in North Africa".

According to a recent article in the Times, Marrakesh remains popular with second home buyers from the UK.
