Morocco attracts more visitors

Morocco is becoming more and more popular as a holiday destination, new figures have revealed.

According to the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), tourist numbers in the north African country rose by 14 per cent in 2007.

This means that rental accommodation in Morocco will have seen higher levels of demand than during the previous year, potentially creating opportunities for overseas property investors in popular tourist areas.

Furthermore, the figures are likely to be a further boost for the country's holiday industry, as its government is currently working to attract a greater number of visitors from overseas.

UNWTO also found that Africa as a whole attracted an estimated 44 million international travellers - 7% more than in 2006.

The organisation said the continued growth in its tourist trade showed that the continent was seeing "good momentum", as it was sustaining the growth it had been experiencing in recent years.
