More people 'flying to Bulgaria'
An increasing number of holidaymakers are choosing to travel to Bulgaria, a budget airline has said.
Wizz Air's chief commercial officer John Stevenson was quoted by the Sofia Echo as saying that the volume of passengers increased by half this year.
He stated that between the January and September 2007, there was a 50% in the number of people travelling to the eastern European country compared with the same period last year.
Meanwhile, traditional flight operators experienced a much smaller rate of growth, Mr Stevenson continued, as passenger numbers rose by just 11%.
The figures highlight the strong popularity of low-cost aviation with tourists and overseas property investors, as they have offered more affordable travel to consumers.
Last month, the Association of International Property Professionals credited budget airlines with opening up previously unfamiliar markets.
The organisation said they had offered greater choice to consumers and changed the way in which they travel.
