More leisure travellers 'to visit north Africa'
North Africa is set to benefit from an increase in visitor numbers over the next few years, according to experts.
Euromonitor stated that the newfound popularity of the region had led to considerable economic growth, resulting in tangible benefits such as infrastructure improvements.
The area's growing appeal was also said to be leading to a surge in the amount of foreign investment, therefore generating further wealth for the economies in each country.
Morocco was highlighted as an especially popular tourist destination by Euromonitor, which said that its increasing popularity could blaze the trail for other nations in north Africa.
Clement Wong, tourism research manager at the organisation, commented: "There is an optimism that both Algeria and Libya can learn and benefit from the successes of Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt."
Earlier this month, online travel agency Freedom Direct highlighted Morocco as an increasingly popular destination with British holidaymakers, due to its culture, climate and exotic surroundings.
