Montenegro's tourist sector experiences growth
Montenegro's economy is benefiting from growth in its tourist industry, according to official data.
The country's ministry of tourism revealed that the amount of money generated by the sector last year was 39% higher than in 2006, reports BalkanInsight.com.
Figures also showed that the overall number of visitors to Montenegro also increased during this period, going up by 20% on the previous year.
The report said: "The results are even better than the goals set as part of the economic policy for 2007."
In addition, the figures showed that the average length of time that people stayed in the country went up last year from 6.3 days to 6.6.
This should be good news for owners of rental accommodation in Montenegro, as it indicates growing demand for their services.
Last week, BalkanInsight.com revealed that Montenegro was becoming an increasingly popular location among foreign property buyers.
The news provider said it had come to be seen as a "property paradise" because it offered benefits such as cheap house prices.
