Montenegro attracts Russian investment
Montenegro is becoming an increasingly popular location among Russian investors, according to a media report.
BBC News stated that foreign nationals are increasingly opting to purchase properties and invest in local businesses.
The media outlet highlighted the example of one Russian man who has bought flats with the intention of selling them on.
Since foreign interest in Montenegro is driving growth in the country's housing market, he has been able to sell them at a higher price.
However, BBC News stated that the eastern European nation may become more popular with people from the west if they are more proactive with regards to helping the environment.
Darko Pajovic, head of environmental group Green Home, also suggested that reducing carbon emissions could help it become a member of the EU much sooner.
This comes after Montenegro was a described as a "paradise" for overseas property investors by BalkanInsight.com.
