'Many potential investments' for winter sports fans

Winter sports fans who want to invest in property have been reassured that many areas still offer good levels of snowfall.

Didier Bobillier of the Serre Chevalier Skiable company refuted suggestions that the Alps had suffered from a lack of snow in the last year, as this was only the case in the north.

He stated that since most of the famous resorts were located in the northern Alps, it was erroneously reported that the whole region was suffering.

This means that overseas property investors keen to indulge in their love of winter sports could benefit from looking at the southern Alps.

Speaking to the Independent, Mr Bobillier said: "Serre-Chevalier had good snow from 15th December last year and we were fully open."

The newspaper stated that if people do want to purchase a property where they could be assured of good skiing conditions, they should consider areas about 1,800m above sea level.

Earlier this month, the Association of British Travel Agents stated that skiing resorts in France, Italy and Austria were highly popular holiday destinations among those leaving the country at Christmas.
