LTE plans to expand in Norwich

A Spanish low-cost airline has revealed that it intends to offer more services between Spain and East Anglia.

Last week, LTE International Airways launched direct flights from Norwich to Alicante, Barcelona and Palma de Mallorca.

Michael Harrington, managing director of the carrier, has said he hopes LTE will become the main airline between Norwich and Spain.

Speaking to the Eastern Daily Press, he commented: "It's not easy for airlines, with high fuel prices having an effect on the economy and the bookings, but we have a plan and we are sticking to that plan."

The airline is understood to be considering introducing new services from the Norfolk-based airport to places such as Tenerife, Las Palmas and Malaga.

This would significantly improve the accessibility of Spain to people living in the transport hub's catchment area.

LTE's arrival at Norwich Airport comes almost a year after the route to Alicante was controversially axed by Flybe.
