Low-cost airline launches new flights
Budget airline easyJet has announced the launch of new services from Northern Ireland to continental Europe.
The carrier will offer passage between Belfast Airport and the Italian city of Venice from today, followed by flights to Barcelona in Spain at the weekend.
David Osborne, UK general manager at easyJet, said that the roll-out of new services displayed the company's commitment to the region and its people.
He commented: "We have ensured that the travelling public no longer have to endure lengthy connections through London airports and can now fly directly to the main airports of Europe's major cities."
The improved accessibility from Northern Ireland will be likely to boost tourism in places serviced by easyJet, potentially increasing the amount of interest in places such as Italy among overseas property investors.
Last week, UK newspaper the Telegraph advised that prospective buyers should "ideally" choose to invest in a region that is served by low-cost airlines, as travel to the area would be more affordable for both the owner and visiting holidaymakers.
