Jobs boost for Argentina in 2010

More jobs could be available in Argentina in 2010 as employers look to add to their workforce, according to the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.

The survey found that almost 20% of employers were expecting to hire workers in the first quarter to 2010. It also found that employer confidence is expected to continue over the next few months.

Argentina's employment outlook now stands nine percentage points stronger than the previous quarter and four percentage points stronger year on year. Employers in the Buenos Aires area and Patagonia registered some of the highest increases in hiring intentions.

The country was also recently named by Shelter Offshore as a top destination for expats moving away from Dubai in the wake of the property crash.

Alfredo Fagalde, chief executive officer of Manpower Argentina, said: "It is encouraging to see that forecasts for the first quarter of 2010, in almost all of the industry sectors and regions, are stronger both quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year."

All sectors reported positive hiring intentions for the first quarter of 2010, with the mining and construction sectors being particularly optimistic. In summer 2010 the public admin/education and health industry expect a boost in recruitment.
