Italian house prices 'set to grow further'

Property values in Italy are likely to keep increasing during the next few years, according to experts.

Independent analysts at Amberlamb stated that the country's housing market had enjoyed a period of consistent growth and that this trend was set to continue.

The organisation said that by the end of 2007, property values in Italy would have risen by almost 30 billion euros in the last six years.

Rhiannon Williamson, director of Amberlamb, commented: "The market is still supporting overall capital appreciation."

She added that overseas property investors were increasing looking at areas such as Calabria, located in the south of the country.

The surge of interest in the province was largely attributed to budget airlines, as they had only recently begun offering direct flights from the UK.

Calabria has been widely cited as a good option for overseas investors by many sector analysts and experts, including real estate specialist Marco Rossi.

Speaking recently to the Daily Record, he said the province's property market was growing fast, although some bargains were still available.
