Istanbul boosts property investment in Turkey
Recent efforts to raise Istanbul's international profile as a city have boosted the Turkish property market.
This is according to Shelter Offshore, which states that Istanbul is "right at the heart" of the Turkish government's ongoing scheme to improve infrastructure and attract even more foreign visitors to the country.
Across Turkey, money is being spent on upgrading regional airports, improving roads and enhancing general amenities and community facilities.
Istanbul's status as a major world city is helping to spearhead this development, with the Turkish capital recently named as a European Capital of Culture in 2010.
Commenting on investment opportunities in Istanbul, Shelter Offshore says: "Keep a close eye on this city's real estate market, because we believe it will return very good things in years to come.
"It's easy to see how a well-located purchase could make for a good long-term investment."
The Times recently listed Istanbul in a list of emerging European cities for property investment.
