Israel boost for Turkey tourism

The Turkish tourism sector is being boosted by a surge in the number of visitors from Israel, it has been reported.

This is positive news for potential property investors in the country, as demand for rented accommodation is likely to increase.

According to ynetnews.com, data released by the Turkish Immigration Ministry recently shows the number of people from Israel travelling to Turkey over the January to October period reached 514,000.

This is 3,000 more than the entire of 2007 and up 10% on last year's equivalent figure.

As a result, Israelis now make up 2.49% of the proportion of Turkish holidaymakers - ensuring Israel a place in the top 10 list of nations.

This is headed by Germany with 20%, followed by England, Russia, Holland and Iran.

Like Turkey, parts of Israel touch the Mediterranean Sea. The country also shares borders with Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt.
