Investors 'should get independent advice'
Overseas property investors have been urged to get advice from an independent expert when buying a mortgage.
Anglo Portuguese Mortgages stated that independent advisers would be able to help clients get the best possible deal and help familiarise them with the various options available.
Speaking to Homes Worldwide, managing director Clive Statham said this was essential for investors, as independent advisers would have expert knowledge on key issues such as interest rates.
He commented: "Buyers need to choose an independent mortgage adviser or banker's agent who works with all major lenders."
Mr Statham added that investors could also benefit from choosing an adviser who specialised the area or country in which they were planning to purchase.
Recently, Alliance & Leicester recommended that overseas buyers could also benefit from carrying out advance checks on property before making a purchase, such as a structural survey.
