Investors 'need to have exit strategy'

Overseas property investors have been urged to make sure they have an exit strategy in place.

According to ShelterOffshore.com, people who own a foreign residence may wish to sell up at some point in the future.

Therefore, the website has recommended that they plan for this eventuality and ensure they are prepared to get out of the market.

"In the back of your mind you should also always have an exit strategy," it commented.

ShelterOffshore.com added that the location of a property is the most important issue for investors to consider, particularly if they are planning to let it out to tenants.

This comes after Paul Collins, property editor at BuyAssociation, suggested that investors find out if there is a strong resale market in their location of choice.

He stated that if people cannot sell their property, they will not be able to collect the proceeds of any capital appreciation which may have occurred.
