Investors in French property given advice

People buying a property in France have been given some advice on how to maximise rental incomes from a home in the country.

Shelter Offshore states that, for investors planning to let their property on a short or long-term basis, the main needs and wants of the prospective tenant should be kept in mind.

This means that not only should the property be "photogenic" in order to attract tenants through advertising material, it should also be well-furnished with "a good standard of amenities and facilities".

In the competitive French market, attention to detail is the key factor here, with "everything from the supply of kitchen equipment to the amount of outdoor sun loungers" requiring attention, the website suggests.

Investors are also reminded that they must make a decision on how to manage maintenance responsibilities – they can choose to either employ an agency or handle any tenant requirements themselves.

Providing their property is well cared for, owners in France should not have any trouble difficulty attracting tenants, with the Economic Times recently describing the country as "the top tourist destination in the world".
