Investors encouraged to boost saleability of foreign property

Overseas property investors have been advised to look at various ways of increasing the saleability of their homes.

According to Shelter Offshore, there are a number of ways of making a foreign residence more attractive to prospective buyers, such as redecorating it inside and out.

The website stated that this could also help boost the underlying value of their property, which may be of interest to those who are planning on holding onto their foreign bolthole for a while.

Shelter Offshore commented: "According to a recent survey of estate agents in the UK, painting and redecorating a home is the only activity that is actually a cost-effective upgrade."

The online portal added that if the house is well-presented and clean, people may be more inclined to buy as they could otherwise be put off by the thought of carrying out lots of work themselves.

According to a recent study by Cater Allen Private Bank, 3 million British nationals are likely to buy a house abroad in the next 2 years.
