Holiday rentals in Turkey increase in popularity
Results from a survey conducted by the firm reveal that almost 90% of holidaymakers plan to stay in a rental property in 2010. This is compared to 62% in 2009.
Courtney Wylie, general manager for Home Away Holiday Rentals, said: "The fact that our report reveals a high level of both repeat and first-time use of rentals demonstrates the strong traveller satisfaction and growth levels within this industry."
She added that there "has been a significant shift towards travellers seeking better value for their holiday pounds".
The survey also recorded an increase in people waiting until the last minute to book their holiday in order to get a better deal.
Turkey was shown to be one of the most popular destinations for 2009 and 2010. The country is expected to receive a tourist boost thanks to Istanbul claiming the title of the 2010 European Capital of Culture.
Cape Town also performed well, largely due to people travelling to the South African World Cup.
Locations in the UK proved to be popular as more people choose to holiday at home. It jumped from seventh to fifth in the rankings.
