German investors 'enter Romanian market'

Romania is becoming a highly popular market among investors from Germany, a leading diplomat has said.

Roland Lohkamp, the German ambassador to Romania, said that businesses were becoming increasingly keen to invest in the market after a series of successful deals over the last 15 years.

This has helped to boost and develop many parts of the Romanian economy, including its auto parts and retail sectors, turning Germany into the country's main trade partner.

Speaking to the Ziarul Financiar, Mr Lohkamp stated that links between the two nations, which first established diplomatic relations 40 years ago, were now stronger than ever before.

He commented: "I'm happy to say bilateral relationships have never been tighter or more solid."

Mr Lohkamp added that the surge in the popularity of the country was largely due to its accession to the EU earlier this year.

According to Currencies Direct, Romania is also increasing in popularity among overseas property buyers from the UK, reports What Investment.
