France 'offers more affordable lifestyle'
British people could find that their lifestyle becomes less expensive by moving to France, it has been claimed.
According to Shelter Offshore, the combination of lower taxes, a warmer climate and cheaper food costs means that living in France is often cheaper than the UK.
The website notes that property in the country can also be relatively inexpensive, although buyers will have to look further than popular tourism spots, such as the major cities and the south of France, to find a home for "next to nothing".
However, Shelter Offshore also explains that living in a quiet rural area can provide property investors with the opportunity to grow their own produce, thereby reducing their living costs even further.
Last week, French Property News reported that the Bank of England's latest interest rate reduction is set to stimulate interest in homes in France among British buyers.
According to the website, the decision to cut rates to 1.5% will give many UK-based investors "increased buying power".
