France 'offers lower cost of living'
Britons who have relocated to France are benefiting from a lower cost of living, according to one expatriate.
Sarah Ormerod, who moved from London to Nice last year, told the Independent that she chose to work overseas as part of her career development plan.
However, she said the move had created a series of lifestyle benefits for her, such as being able to live in a more pleasant environment at a lower cost.
Speaking to the newspaper, she commented: "For the amount I was paying for a room in the suburbs of London, I can rent a lovely flat just two minutes from the sea front."
Ms Ormerod added that she would be quick to recommend France to any potential expats, partly because the local people are very friendly.
The comments come at the same time as new figures from the Office for National Statistics which show that an increasing number of Britons are moving abroad.
According to the data, more than 200,000 UK citizens chose to leave the country and live abroad permanently last year.
Earlier this week, a new high-speed rail service between London and Paris was launched by Eurostar.
