Flights to Dubai gain popularity
Emirates Airline has hailed the success of its direct service between Newcastle Airport and Dubai.
The carrier, which introduced the route a year ago, stated that the flights are proving to be very popular with leisure and business travellers.
Indeed, figures show that in the last 12 months, more than 140,000 people have boarded the daily service.
Vic Sheppard, vice president of Emirates in the UK and Ireland, has hailed the success of the Dubai route, describing it as one its biggest successes in Britain.
He commented: "Given that it has been a challenging time for the entire airline industry, we are delighted to have received such strong support from the north-east travelling public."
This comes after Holidays-Direct revealed that top-end destinations such as the United Arab Emirates are attracting a higher-than-average number of bookings this year.
The online travel agency believes this is because British consumers want to make the most of their holiday time and ensure that it is a memorable trip.
