Expert: Now is the time to invest in Dubrovnik
Now could be an ideal opportunity to invest in Dubrovnik, thanks to the rising reputation of the city and the potential for returns, according to an international property consultancy.
Colliers International Southeast Europe cites a high demand for property, driven by the city's increasing popularity and local opposition to overdevelopment caused by large, new-build schemes, as a major reason for the recommendation.
With a range of celebrities having been spotted in Dubrovnik - including Tom Cruise, Michael Douglas, Steven Spielberg and Roger Moore - the city's stock is rising fast, the company states.
Tomislav Perovic, managing director of Colliers Croatia, remarks: "Dubrovnik has become an elite destination that can be compared with the finest in the world."
He concludes that in light of the country's accession to the European Union, property prices should grow at a healthy rate - making now "a great time to invest".
Recent research from European Cities Marketing revealed that Dubrovnik is becoming an increasingly popular choice for holidaymakers on city breaks.
The report showed that visitor numbers for the city have double in the last five years.
