Expats urged to carry out research
People who are thinking of relocating to foreign climes have been advised to carry out thorough research in advance.
According to Paul Beasley of Which?, moving to a sunnier and more affordable location is a long-held dream for many Britons.
However, he warned that many expatriates end up having to make an unscheduled return to the UK every year, largely because of poor preparation.
Therefore, Mr Beasley has urged people to consider important practical issues, such as the cost of living and whether they will be likely to find work.
Mr Beasley commented: "Do your research, take your time over decisions and be sure you are ready for the commitment involved."
He stated that if people take this advice, emigrating could be a "life-changing" experience.
This comes after insurance firm AXA predicted that the number of Britons who move abroad each year will go up in the near future.
