Expats paid higher wages
Britons who seek employment overseas could find themselves better off financially, new figures have revealed.
According to a study by NatWest, people from the UK could see their salary go up by much as 43% if they move abroad.
The financial provider said the average salary for an expatriate is about £67,000 a year, whereas a person in Britain can expect to earn about £47,000.
Commenting on the findings, David Isley of NatWest said they show that living overseas has many advantages.
He commented: "People who are willing to move abroad not only benefit from bigger earnings in countries such as Spain and Italy, but also have the advantage of a lower cost of living."
Mr Isley added that expatriates also tend to feel healthier and happier after moving abroad, which results in them enjoying a better quality of life.
According to the Office for National Statistics, more than 200,000 British nationals moved abroad during 2006.
