Expats advised to research French market

Britons who are thinking of relocating to France have been advised to research its rules and regulations.

According to ShelterOffshore.com, foreign nationals will be subject to the country's legal system upon gaining residency in the country.

Therefore, the website has advised people to find out exactly what rules they will be governed by on a day-by-day basis.

Prospective expats were told that failing to carry out advance research would be "naive".

ShelterOffshore.com said: "You will still have to abide by the many rules, fill in the many forms and live by the many laws that France is governed by."

The website added that people should find out about the "realities" of living in the European country before committing to a move.

France was praised for offering a number of attractions to expats, including affordable property prices, high living standards and advanced healthcare facilities.

According to the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, house prices in France went up by 3% last year.
