Expanding market offers new opportunities in Spain
The popularity of Spanish property is likely to continue unabated thanks to its infrastructure, climate and expatriate community, and it is still one of the top areas for return on investment in the world, an industry expert has claimed.
Despite a softening in much of the property market in Western Europe, Spain is still performing well, according to Pierre Williams of property investment educators Inside Track.
Mr Williams said that "Spain is the 2nd best performing market" behind Florida, averaging a 48.74% investment return, a full 10% above that of the UK.
Traditional areas for Spanish property investment are still performing well, but in an expanding, mature market the best returns can be found in new opportunities, for example in off-plan developments.
Explaining Spain's attractiveness, Mr Williams said that in addition to the expatriates and infrastructure, "above all it offers the sort of sunshine that many Brits aspire to when they can afford to live abroad".
"Spain's naturally an attractive market, and has been because it's been a holiday destination for the British for so long," he added.
