Europe attracts foreign property buyers
Overseas property buyers in the UK are still opting to enter European markets, it has been revealed.
According to a study by Currencies Direct, traditional hotspots such as Spain and France are still attracting the most interest from British investors.
The two countries were named as the most popular locations overall, with Spain in particular said to be very attractive to expatriates who wish to live abroad full-time.
Commenting on its appeal, Mark O'Sullivan, spokesperson for Currencies Direct, observed: "As ever Spain is the number one retirement destination for Brits."
However, he added that younger people are increasingly choosing to venture further afield to long-haul locations.
Mr O'Sullivan stated that property buyers aged under 40 tend to favour countries which offer both lifestyle attractions and investment opportunities.
This comes after a poll by A Place in the Sun magazine rated Spain as the most popular market among British buyers for the second year in succession.
