Euro strength influences holidaymakers
The current strength of the euro is directly impacting on British people's travel habits, it has been revealed.
According to a number of travel firms and analysts, demand for holidays to traditional destinations such as Spain is declining.
This has been largely attributed to the ongoing weakness of the pound against the single European currency, as it has recently fallen to an all-time low.
Commenting on the trend, John Bevan of Lastminute.com said: "If you look at bookings and searches, Turkey is our number one destination."
Speaking to the Daily Mail, he stated that Turkey usually occupies fourth or fifth place behind places like Spain.
He added that France - "amazingly" - is no longer one of its top ten most popular locations.
This comes after Kayak.co.uk stated that growing economic uncertainty is not stopping consumers from booking trips abroad.
Tourists stated that instead of depriving themselves of a trip abroad, they would attempt to offset the financial impact by cutting back elsewhere.
