Energy drive in Bulgaria 'given extra cash'
MKB Unionbank in Bulgaria has been lent 5 million euros (£3.38 million) by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the bid to improve energy efficiency in the country.
In news that may be interest to potential property investors, the project will also attempt to reduce emissions levels and further develop a clean energy programme, reports novinite.com.
One of the conditions of Bulgaria's entry into the European Union was a more efficient energy drive and it is hoped that this latest financial boost will aid this further, said James Hyslop, director for Bulgaria at the EBRD.
MKB Unionbank also received a package of 3 million euros in 2004, which looked to help 9 private firms cut their waste emissions.
In related news, the regional development minister in Bulgaria recently announced that the country is to double the amount of money it spends on road repairs to £338 million.
