Emerging markets 'are lucrative investments'

Overseas property investors could find a purchase in a less-established location highly lucrative, according to industry analysts.

FirstRungNow.com said there are many countries in the world which are currently seeing considerable growth in their housing markets.

The website believes that these locations could be ideal for investors who wish to use their property to generate wealth.

Helen Adams, managing director of FirstRungNow.com, highlighted eastern Europe as one possible option, as many are countries in this area are experiencing strong growth.

Turkey was highlighted as another good choice and a place that could generate much higher returns than traditional markets.

Ms Adams commented: "The trouble with Spain and France is that you won't get the capital growth, whereas in less obvious places, you're more likely to."

Figures from the Association of International Property Professionals show that about 242,000 overseas property purchases were made by British buyers last year.

This is 21% up on the number recorded 12 months earlier, illustrating the growing appeal of foreign property ownership in the UK.
