Economic problems 'fuel desire to move abroad'

A significant proportion of British females want to improve their financial status by moving abroad, new research has found.

According to a study by Canderel, 41% of financially-secure women aged between 40 and 59 are thinking of emigrating to another country.

This was said to be because of the deepening economic problems at home, which have raised fears about whether their financial security will last.

Candarel believes that prime minister Gordon Brown is likely to "sweat" if he sees the findings, as this demographic is vital to the British economy.

Tom Savigar, stategy and insight director at the Future Laboratory, added: "Compared to ten years ago, it is astonishing for such a high percentage of women of this age wanting to move abroad for economic security."

This comes after Liam Clifford of Global Visas revealed that many Britons are particularly aggrieved with the amount they are paying out in tax.

Speaking to the Telegraph, he said the current tax regime is widely perceived to be "punishing" those who are in full-time employment.
