Dubai raises profile of Gulf Coast
Dubai's popularity among overseas property investors has set an example to many Gulf Coast nations, according to an analyst.
Stuart Shields, publisher at International Homes Luxury Collection Magazine, stated that the emirate has proved that desert regions can still be highly productive.
He said some countries in the region need to plan for the future because declining oil stocks will result in falling revenues.
As a result, places such as the United Arab Emirates have been forced to look at other ways of generating wealth for its long-term future.
Mr Shields stated that the country has done this by building real estate in places such as Dubai, thereby taking advantage of natural attributes such as its year-round sunshine.
This, he continued, has led to other places on the Gulf Coast acting similarly and looking to attract overseas property buyers.
Mr Shields commented: "Dubai has shown the way it can be done, because they all have to think of the future."
The United Arab Emirates was recently rated eighth in Jet-to-Let magazine's list of this year's top 10 property investment markets.
