Cyprus service boosts airline's passenger numbers
The launch of new routes to established European markets has helped an airline boost its passenger numbers.
Budget carrier flyMonarch.com revealed that it transported 3.7 million people during 2007 - 15.8% more than during the previous year.
This increase was partially attributed to the introduction of services to places such as Larnaca in Cyprus, a move which further opened up the area to British leisure travellers.
The improved access offered by the airline may also have made the destination more attractive among overseas property buyers.
Commenting on its success, flyMonarch.com said that it would continue to launch extra services and increase capacity on its most popular routes.
Specifically, it stated that it was planning to expand further into the eastern Mediterranean region.
Meanwhile, British Airways has announced that it is to launch a new service between Gatwick Airport and Paphos later this year.
The airline said the daily service would begin operating in early July.
