Cyprus attracts foreign expatriates
Cyprus has become a popular location among Britons who want to live abroad, according to a media report.
The Mediterranean island was praised by Gulf Weekly for offering a number of attractions to foreign expatriates, including a good quality of life.
This, combined with its "rich" cultural heritage and pleasant natural environment, was said to have helped make Cyprus the "first choice" location for many people.
However, practical considerations were also highlighted as major issues that have further enhanced its appeal.
For example, the island was praised for offering a favourable tax regime and a low cost of living, as well as good healthcare facilities.
Gulf Weekly said: "The reasons that make Cyprus so appealing are sustainable, which is important for any investor to keep in mind."
The comments come just almost four months after the island strengthened its links with Europe by joining the single currency.
Cyprus adopted the euro on New Year's Day 2008, taking the overall number of countries in the eurozone up to 15.
