Culture draws people to Italy
Overseas property buyers are being drawn to the Italian market by the country's culture, experts have said.
BuyAssociation stated that since the market never "exploded" in the same way as countries such as Bulgaria, this meant people were mainly interested in experiencing Italy's culture and way of life.
The property website added that holiday home owners also wanted properties that were easily accessible, hence the popularity of areas such as Lakes Garda and Como.
Paul Collins, property editor for BuyAssociation, commented: "There are plenty of flights that go into that area; it's very easy to get to.
"Holiday home owners like to access their properties nice and easily."
Mr Collins added that access to the area was also a major consideration for people buying property solely for investment purposes.
According to RealPoint Italy, the country accounts for almost one in ten overseas property sales by British investors.
