Croatia and Montenegro affirm Balkan stability
In a move indicative of the increasing stability in the region, Balkan states Croatia and Montenegro will address unresolved border issues during a two day visit to Montenegro by chairman of the Croatian assembly Vladimir Seks.
Mr Seks will meet his counterpart Ranko Krivokapic to discuss borders and reparations in the wake of the wars that followed the dissolution of the Yugoslav federation in 1991.
The Journal of Turkish Weekly reports that Mr Seks said at a joint press conference: "On behalf of the Sabor [Croatian Parliament], I welcome the memorandum by the Croatian-Montenegrin Council, which was signed by both governments and which concerns partial compensation of war damage."
Mr Krivokapic underlined the stability in the region by adding: "Never again will Montenegro destroy or invade other people's land nor will it be a part of a project that would cause damage to other Southern Slavic nations."
The friendly political climate between the Balkan states is one of the reasons behind confident foreign investment in the peninsula.
