Crime drives British couple overseas

A British national has revealed that high crime in the UK has prompted him to pack his bags and move abroad.

Damon Kestle plans to set up home in north-east Brazil next year along with his pregnant wife Sarah, reports the Telegraph.

Speaking to the newspaper, Mr Kestle said he is leaving the UK partly because he wants to make money with a new business venture.

However, he also revealed that he believes the level of crime near his London home makes it an unsuitable place in which to bring up a child.

He commented: "We come from Nottingham, which has a very high crime rate, and we are living in north London, which is full of knife crime."

Mr Kestle added that Brazil is likely to become "the place to be" in a few years time, as it has a growing economy.

His comments come soon after Brazil's Central Bank revealed that foreign direct investment in the country has risen markedly since the start of the year.

Figures from the organisation showed that £6.5 billion of investment from overseas was received between January and April, reports Brazzil Mag.
