Couples 'are turning increasingly to holiday homes to host weddings'
Rental properties in Croatia, Spain, France and Portugal are being used increasingly as venues for intimate and picturesque weddings, according to new claims from a holiday home rental company.
Property investors could be set to benefit from this increasing trend, as many couples are looking for both "significant cost savings" and a "great environment" for their special day, Holiday Rentals stated.
The company cited figures showing that 1 in 4 couples now opt to exchange their vows abroad, with beach destinations proving particularly effective.
James Leavitt, Holiday Rentals owner, remarked: "There's nothing better to me than seeing the joy of a bride and groom getting married in front of my home, with their toes in the sand and the waves as the music."
An additional attraction with using rented property abroad is that wedding and honeymoon facilities can be combined for convenience, the company concluded.
Recent research from home insurance provider Churchill suggested that Britons spend a total of £13.8 billion every year on weddings, putting the number of couples marrying overseas at 10%.
The average wedding costs approximately £39,000, including guest expenditure, the survey revealed.
