Countries 'join Economic Area'
Both Bulgaria and Romania have joined the European Economic Area, according to a statement made by the Economic Ministry, it has been reported.
Now, the countries are set to benefit and the agreement will allow improved relations between European Union (EU) member states and non-EU countries on the domestic market in Europe, reported the Sofia Echo.
Additionally, it is hoped that they will now gain equal treatment, stated BBC Monitoring, something that may be of interest to potential property investors.
Treatment is set to fall in line with the agreement, including the 10 states that gained EU citizenship in 2004, the publication said.
About 100 million euros (£67 million) will be granted by south-east European (SEE) and AELS countries (Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway) in order to support the drive towards the reduction of greenhouse gases and promoting more sustainable developments.
Moreover, it is believed that healthcare and human resources will be further developed.
