Bulgarian property prices 'could rise dramatically'

Property prices in Bulgaria could be set to rise dramatically in the near future, according to experts.

The Sofia Echo cited polls by local media outlets showing that real estate agents in Bulgaria unanimously thought that property values would go up significantly.

Many have predicted that in the bigger cities, house prices could rise by 10 per cent before the end of this year.

This could make cities such as Sofia a potentially lucrative investment for overseas property investors.

The high levels of house price inflation were attributed to high demand, especially for apartments with up to 70 sq m of floor space.

However, cheaper apartments outside the central parts of major cities were also said to be likely to get more expensive.

Earlier this month, UK newspaper the Independent stated that up to 40,000 British investors now own property in Bulgaria.
