Bulgarian flights launched by easyJet

Budget airline easyJet has announced that it will launch extra flights to the Bulgarian capital Sofia in 2008.

The low-cost carrier will offer daily passage to the city from London's Gatwick Airport from the end of January.

This announcement comes only a month after easyJet began offering services to Sofia from the UK-based portal.

However, the current route operates three times a week and the carrier has received considerable demand from consumers for more flights to Bulgaria.

The calls for additional services to the eastern European country will be good news for its government and tourist authorities.

Owners of rental accommodation in popular areas will also be likely to welcome the announcement, as it suggests that demand for holiday homes will be higher next year.

This comes almost a year after Bulgaria became a full member of the European Union.
