Bulgarian authorities plan infrastructure improvements
Overseas property investors in Bulgaria will be likely to benefit from a series of infrastructure improvements.
The Sofia Echo reports that authorities in the popular Bansko region will use up to 280,000 euros from EU funds on restoring local buildings and facilities.
Most of the work will centre on the area's highways, as many villages are connected by what Bansko's mayor, Alexander Kravarov, described as "fourth-class" roads.
Furthermore, funds will be used to restore an old church in one of the oldest parts of Bansko.
Although plans for the restoration have been around for some time, their implementation had been delayed as a result of municipal elections in the region.
The infrastructure improvements are likely to be a positive development for investors in the region, as it could make the area more desirable and accelerate the rate of house price inflation.
Bansko has attracted attention from foreign property buyers partly because of its popularity as a skiing resort.
